Canada Post is poised to unveil a new digital mailbox system that would give Canadians a secure online mailing address that will be linked to each of their home addresses.
The digital mailbox will be a focal point of the new e-services strategy. It will give Canadians a way to digitally authenticate their identity and link it to their physical address. The implications could be enormous: thousands of functions that require people to verify their identity and address on paper forms may soon be done online through the Canada Post Web site.
Canada Post is planning to launch the digital network in Kitchener – Waterloo region this summer with an exact date still to be determined. With this digital strategy Canada Post is bringing it’s a 249 year old practices to into the 21st century.
